Once on an unscripted drive through Italy, my wife and I, after many planned and unplanned turns on the country roads, ended up at a small little known restaurant (which later became quite well known). At that restaurant, we had the BEST meal of our lives. As we sat that evening, with a glass of wine to recount the day’s serendipitous reward, we marveled at how we made our way to that epic experience.
Having recently started for Fastmarkets USA, I caught myself looking back on the path that has taken me this small, but soon to be Well Known success. My journey started in Chicago at the CBOE (Chicago Board of Option) & The CME (Chicago Mercantile Exchange). Here is where I battled on the floors with hundreds of traders & brokers for the profitable trades. After many years I realized that I need to make a change and soon found myself working for Caterpillar and becoming quite a success at sales. My next step was to get back toward the markets, where my passion lied. This led me to an Exchange Data Software Company. Again, I worked with Traders, Brokers and Financial Firms just in a different capacity than I had 10 years earlier. Now I was selling them the Quotes, News, Charts and other data they needed to make smart informed trading decisions.
Now I am at Fastmarkets USA. And I am excited to begin this journey that will draw on all of my past experiences to help make this North American Location a huge success. Since the Fastmarkets platform is proven and clearly a Metal Maven’s dream, that part is easy. What will be challenging is getting it into the folk’s lap(tops) who need it the most. The people who are on the front-line of the Metal’s World; Hedgers, Miners, Scrappers and Traders. And not only will we, but we plan on doubling the size of Fastmarkets in the next few years! And that is because we feel we can deliver an epic experience.
I know that if I was back on the front line at the CME, or any company trying to hedge my risk exposure, I would want Fastmarkets USA as my partner.
