Eric Norris joined Albemarle in January 2018 as Chief Strategy Officer. In this role, he managed the company’s strategic planning, M&A, and corporate business development programs as well as its investor relations efforts. In August 2018, he was appointed President of the Lithium global business unit. Prior to joining Albemarle, Norris served as President of Health and Nutrition for FMC Corporation. Following FMC’s announcement to acquire DuPont Agricultural Chemical assets, he led the divestiture of FMC Health and Nutrition to DuPont. Previously, Norris served as Vice President and Global Business Director for FMC Health and Nutrition, and Vice President and Global Business Director for FMC Lithium. During his 16-year FMC career, he served in additional leadership roles including Investor Relations, Corporate Development and Director of FMC Healthcare Ventures. Prior to FMC, Norris founded and led an internet-based firm offering formulation and design tools to the chemical industry. He started his career in a range of leadership roles with the Rohm and Haas Company. Norris earned a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University and a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and German from Colgate University. Norris is a member of the board of directors of Communities in Schools of Charlotte-Mecklenburg and is a member of the board of advisors of The Zero Emission Transportation Association (ZETA).

Will Adams is the head of battery and base metals research at Fastmarkets, where he has worked in management and research for both the battery raw metals and base metals teams. Will’s focus is on understanding and forecasting the battery raw material markets, including the market dynamics and economics in lithium, cobalt, nickel, copper, aluminium, lead, zinc, tin and gold. With extensive experience in base metals research, Will spent fifteen years at Rudolf Wolff & CO LTD, which was one of the founding members of the London Metal Exchange, where he gained broad insight into all aspects of the metals markets before moving into commodity consultancy. He started at Fastmarkets UK in 2004, bringing his hands-on experience to price discovery on battery and base metals.

Ryan Bartlett, Ph.D., has joined Compass Minerals as vice president, innovation and product development. Dr. Bartlett will be responsible for building a world-class research and development (R&D) team for the company’s plant nutrition division, anchoring its operations in a new North America “Center of Excellence” research facility near the company’s headquarters in Overland Park. “Dr. Bartlett’s disciplined approach to product development and advancing scientific projects will be of exceptional benefit to Compass Minerals,” said Brad Griffith, senior vice president, plant nutrition. “Ryan’s background in agriculture and product development will allow us to maximize our newly expanded portfolio to create value for our farmer-customers.” Dr. Bartlett comes to Compass Minerals from Monsanto Company, where he spent nine years. In his most recent position as Global Technology Development Innovation Lead, he was responsible for the development of global commercial field testing and innovation strategy, including the assessment of new technology from third parties. Dr. Bartlett also led the evolution of the Monsanto field testing network to meet the needs of a more diversified product pipeline and provided strategic leadership for growth platforms such as biologicals and precision agriculture. Prior to this position, Ryan led global technology development for seed-applied solutions, global corn emerging technology and U.S. product development for specialty crops. “We expect our commitment to innovation will generate interest from potential collaborators who can further advance our capabilities in plant nutrition,” Griffith added. “Further, we believe that Ryan’s demonstrated technical capabilities and his experience as a farmer and rancher will keep our developmental efforts better aligned with the needs of our customers,” Griffith added. Dr. Bartlett earned a doctorate in biochemistry and a Bachelors of Science in genetics from the University of Kansas.

Mr. Gavilan developed his extensive finance, risk management and global relationships during his tenure at four major commodity businesses. Ken Hoffman is a Senior Expert for McKinsey’s Basic Materials Institute (BMI). He leads the Firm’s EV Battery Material Research Group, is a part of McKinsey’s “Battery SWAT team”, and a member of the Firm’s sustainability practice and future mobility group. He has worked on more than 50 EV value chain client projects. His team looks at the impact on raw materials due to the rapid development of advanced battery technologies. He has co-written articles on nickel in EV’s, and a cobalt and lithium whitepaper. His latest work “ The raw-materials challenge: How the metals and mining sector will be at the core of enabling the energy transition” was published in 2022. Prior to McKinsey, Ken was the global head of metals and mining research for Bloomberg Intelligence Prior to Bloomberg Mr. Hoffman was a head of equity research, analyst, and portfolio manager in the commodity and industrial growth area. A CFA charter holder, Mr. Hoffman holds a BS in finance from Syracuse University and an MBA from Duke University.

Krishna joins Fastmarkets from Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) where he was a Lead Cell Engineer working on electric vehicle (EV) Batteries. His tenure at JLR included characterizing state-of-the-art Li-ion cells (performance and lifetime) for EVs, including the upcoming 2022 Range Rover PHEV. He also worked in a multi-disciplinary team to develop BEV SUV battery pack concepts and led several research and development projects with the Warwick Manufacturing Group at the University of Warwick. Krishna holds a PhD from the University of Southampton, where he worked on a prototype redox flow battery concept designed for grid-scale energy storage applications.
