Fastmarkets to change Brazil domestic steel prices frequency

Fastmarkets will change the frequency of its Brazilian domestic steel assessments from monthly to weekly, with effect from Friday April 24, 2026.

The decision follows a one-month consultation period, which ended on April 6.

Please note that Fastmarkets will increase the publication frequency to weekly from what was originally proposed. This frequency change is in line with feedback received during the proposal phase.

This frequency change follows changes in Brazil’s import environment, including the introduction of anti-dumping measures and higher import tariffs, which have led to shifts in trading terms and pricing behavior in the domestic market.

The assessments that will be changed are as follows. Fastmarkets will publish these prices every Friday at 2-3pm Eastern Standard Time (EST):

MB-STE-0007 Steel hot-rolled coil, domestic, weekly, exw Brazil, Reais per tonne
MB-STE-0005 Steel cold-rolled coil, domestic, weekly, exw Brazil, Reais per tonne
MB-STE-0006 Steel hot-dipped galvanized coil, domestic weekly, exw Brazil, Reais per tonne
MB-STE-0008 Steel reinforcing bar (rebar), domestic, weekly, exw Brazil, Reais per tonne.

Note that Fastmarkets has also clarified the data submission deadline for these assessments, which is 1pm EST each Friday, as well as the incoterm for steel reinforcing bar (rebar), domestic, weekly (MB-STE-0008), which was delivered Brazil and will become ex-works Brazil.

If you have any questions or comments, or if you would like to provide price information by becoming a data submitter to these prices, contact pricing@fastmarkets.com and steel@fastmarkets.com. Please add the subject heading “re: Brazil domestic steel.”
