While running global physical trading books at E.ON, Trafigura and Goldman Sachs he spent extensive time in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and North America. More recently Daf, as a Director at TradeCloud, has focused his attention on enabling commodity companies to adopt technologies to help improve efficiency, visibility, and security in their supply chains. Daf has deep experience in structuring and raising finance in commodity markets and is a big believer in the growing importance of supply chain digitalization to the future of commodity finance, especially in the context of ESG.

Rodrigo Echeverri has worked in commodities for over 15 years, holding roles in Marketing and Research in South America, Europe and Asia. He has worked for the largest producers and traders in the industry, including Cerrejón (CMC), Adaro and Noble. He is currently Head of Research at Noble Resources, covering over 12 different products for five trading desks. Rodrigo is based in Singapore, where he is a permanent resident along with his family. He co-lectures the course “Commodities: Fundamentals and Modelling” at the National University of Singapore.

Alexis Ellender is Lead Major Dry Bulks Analyst at Kpler, the foremost provider of data and analytics in commodity markets. Based in London, he has over nine years’ experience in dry bulk commodity and dry freight research. Alexis joined the Insight Team at Kpler in March 2023 where he is leading the development and expansion of the company’s dry bulks research offering. This includes analysis of coal, iron ore, grain, and dry bulk shipping markets, supporting the development of Kpler’s dry bulks data offering, and authoring publications such as the Thermal & Met Coal Monthly report. Before joining Kpler, Alexis was a Director at Simpson Spence Young (SSY), one of the world’s largest shipbroking organisations where he worked for nine years as part of the SSY Consultancy & Research team. In addition to analysing major cargo flows and fleet developments his work included presenting to SSY’s clients, speaking at industry events, writing for company publications, and supporting broking staff. Alexis graduated from the University of Manchester with a BA in Geography and a MSc in Industry Trade and Development.

Mike Fulwood is a Senior Research Fellow at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies and a Fellow at the Center on Global Energy Policy, focussing on global gas modelling and LNG markets. Mike has over 40 years of experience in the gas industry. Mike worked as a consultant, with Energy Markets between 1997 and 2008 and then with Nexant as Director, Global Gas & LNG until August 2017. Before working as consultant, Mike worked for British Gas from 1979, latterly as a Director at British Gas Transco, in charge of the price control review, and prior to that President of British Gas Americas during which time he oversaw many successful acquisitions and projects including the acquisitions of Metrogas (Argentina), NGC (now Dynegy), the Bolivia – Brazil pipeline and Trinidad LNG project.

Guy Hindley is Managing Partner of the Dry Cargo Division of leading Shipbrokers Howe Robinson Partners. Formed in London in 1883 Howe Robinson was grown to become one of the largest fully integrated international Shipbroking Houses, with a global network of 15 offices and 350 staff. Guy has spent his career specialising in Dry Cargo logistics and transportation and has an in-depth knowledge of chartering as well as other project related business. He directs the Dry Cargo Research Team who produce regular bespoke reports covering all aspects of the Dry Bulk Commodity and Freight Market as well as a specialist set of in-house indices including recently launched HRP Indian Ocean Supramax Index. Guy is also Chairman of Maritime Strategies International (MSI), the Research and Consulting specialist and is a Member of the Baltic Exchange Governing Council. Guy read History and Law at Magdalene College, Cambridge.

In the past three years, she added metallurgical coal market into her analysis scope. Over a period of a decade with the company, she was also involved in operational works as a sales planner for 2.5 years. Prior to working with Adaro, she briefly served as an analyst at the Indonesian Ministry of Trade. The role introduced her to the world of trade analysis and exposed her to various business sectors. Patricia holds a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering from the Institut Teknologi Bandung.

Dr. Lars Schernikau joined the commodity business in 2003 and before worked at The Boston Consulting Group in New York, USA and Munich, Germany from 1997-2003. As a co-founder, shareholder and former member of the supervisory board in the German-based, publicly listed, international commodity marketing and mining companies HMS Bergbau AG and IchorCoal NV, Lars has founded, worked for, and advised a number of companies in the global raw material sector in Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America. Currently, Lars focuses on further developing the companies’ global operations as well as marketing of energy and other commodities in Asia, Africa, the Americas, Europe and the Indian subcontinent. HMS has been marketing US coal and petcoke products for over a decade. Lars is a forward looking and positive thinking macroeconomist with challenging views backed up by science. He has a positive approach towards human development and energy and is a critical thinker with the environment and long-term survival of humanity in mind. Today, next to his operational work in the commodity industry, Lars is a regular speaker at major energy & commodity conferences, workshops, and universities around the world. Lars advises selected governments, banks, and conglomerates on energy policy. Lars has published books, scientific research, and press articles relating to energy raw materials and energy policy and has been peer-reviewing several energy related books and research papers. Lars was raised Berlin, Germany, studied Finance at New York University, received his MBA from INSEAD in France, and earned his doctoral degree in energy economics with focus on energy, commodities, and coal at the Technical University Berlin, Germany.
