Carsten Obermann, Project Manager at Gotion Global
Carsten Obermann specialized in the field of lithium-ion batteries and could gather experience along the whole battery value chain in various positions since 2017. Having worked at automotive OEMs, battery cell manufacturers and on battery recycling, he is currently driving Gotion’s ambitious strategic expansion plans outside of China. For the European market, he especially focuses on establishing Gotion’s manufacturing and recycling footprint. He holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and Business Administration from RWTH Aachen and studied MBA programs at Yonsei University in Korea and at NTUST in Taiwan.
Anthony is the President & CEO of Ecopro Innovation. Prior to his appointment in 2009, Anthony served as Executive Managing Director of the Board of Directors for Ecopro and was formally Ecopro Innovation. He has been involved in the purchasing of raw materials and oversight activities of Ecopro since 2012.
Anthony has also been an active volunteer with numerous leadership roles in different organizations, including Spirax Sarco UK Group.
Before joining Spirax Sarco, Anthony was a process engineer at Hyundai. He has gained a lot of experience in the Hyundai Oil Refinery plant.

Mr Jonathan Lafontaine started his current role as the Mining exploration activity monitor for the ministère des Ressources naturelles et des Forêts in August 2020. Mr Lafontaine graduated with a B.Sc. in geology from Laval University in 2001 including an academic exchange with the University of Alberta, and graduated with a M.Sc. in geology from the University of New Brunswick in 2007. He began his professional career in Saskatchewan for a uranium exploration and mining company and pursued professional interests as a geologist in New Brunswick, Quebec and Saskatchewan. Among his successes, he contributed to the discovery of the Matoush project, Quebec’s discovery of the year in 2008, which helped him convince the IAEA to now recognize it as a new deposit type.
Between 2013 and 2020, he has assumed several different roles in the fields of corporate development and mining investments, and he managed technical committees in the field of hydrogen standardization at both the international and Canadian levels for ISO and SCC respectively, with hydrogen a significant path in the field in electrification. Since the beginning of his career, he has been involved with several commodities and numerous projects representing the entire mineral development process. Mr Lafontaine is a registered professional in Québec, du New-Brunswick and Saskatchewan.

Based in Fastmarkets’ Beijing office, Vicky has over 12 years’ experience in the metal and mining sector. She focuses on battery raw material industry research, specifically lithium, cobalt, nickel sulphate and other cathode materials. Vicky’s responsibilities include overall market analysis and insights, building supply/demand models and short- and long-term price forecasts for electric vehicles, energy storage systems and consumer electronic batteries. Her role includes the anode market dynamics analysis and the development of potential new prices in related fields. She joined Fastmarkets in 2019, initially working across a range of commodities price analysis, including industrial minerals and non-ferrous ores and alloys. She has a MA in English Interpretation from Shanghai International Studies University.

James Choi was Australia’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea (with cross accreditation to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) from 2016 to 2021.
During his term, he managed the upgrading of the Australia-Korea relationship and facilitated a rapid expansion in trade and investment ties, especially in the areas of critical minerals and hydrogen.

Michael Schmidt is a research associate at the German Mineral Resources Agency (DERA) based in Berlin, which is part of the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR). He is a geologist with practical experience in exploration, global market analysis and consultancy.
Between 2009 and 2012, Michael worked for the Martin Luther University Halle – Wittenberg where he worked on CCS technology. Prior to TRAXYS, he worked as a Battery Raw Materials Broker at SCB Group focused on the physical brokerage of lithium products such as lithium carbonate, lithium hydroxide, and lithium spodumene concentrate. At SCB Group he facilitated the first-ever lithium futures trade on an exchange. Martim also worked at Fastmarkets as a senior Lithium Market Reporter, responsible for the lithium market prices and the benchmark of Fastmarkets lithium prices.
