Fastmarkets clarifies tally specification for southern yellow pine #2 2×4 (eastside)

In response to growing market participation and increased use of its daily southern yellow (SYP) assessment, Fastmarkets is updating the published methodology to provide additional transparency regarding the tally formula used in the price calculation process.

Fastmarkets collects both random tally and specified-length pricing information as part of the assessment process for southern yellow pine #2 2×4 (eastside). An industry-standard formula is used to derive random tally prices from specified-length input when applicable.

Fastmarkets’ methodology has been updated to include the tally used in the 8’-20’ assessment as 1-2-2-3-3-1-1. Fastmarkets may adjust that formula in the future based on industry standards.
