Flat steel prices in Turkey continued to fall in May, on moderate demand, and market participants expect June to be just as slow, as the Islamic holy month of Ramadan, and Eid will take place during the month.

London Metal Exchange base metals prices have generally been weak in recent days but some dip-buying seems to be emerging, which for now is providing support. But, with much of Asia in, or heading for, Golden Week and Labor Day holidays, liquidity is likely to shrink either leading to more volatility, or quiet trading in the days ahead.

The base metals are looking a bit firmer and better placed to work higher this morning, Tuesday July 11.

Most of the base metals prices are weaker this morning, Wednesday May 31, the exception is three-month copper prices on the London Metal Exchange that are up 0.3% at $5,677 per tonne. The other LME metals are down an average of 0.6%, although that is skewed by a 2.4% decline in nickel prices to $8,890 per tonne.

Three-month base metals prices on the London Metal Exchange were firmer across the board this morning, Wednesday January 16, with prices up by an average of 0.8%. This after further temporary stimulus measures from China gave sentiment a boost.

Base metals prices on the London Metal Exchange are down across the board this morning, Tuesday May 16, with prices down an average of 0.6%.

Generally London Metal Exchange prices have been weak in recent days and the strong dollar has been a factor in that, but dip-buying appears to be providing support in morning trading on Friday April 26.

Base metals prices are generally consolidating this morning, Friday May 5, after setting fresh lows intraday on Thursday.

Base metals prices on the London Metal Exchange are starting the week on a weak footing with prices down by an average of 1.5% this morning, Monday November 27.

Trading across most of the base metals is leading to price weakness – this despite record-setting levels seen in the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite on Tuesday. The exception is aluminium, where prices have been edging higher in recent days.
