Progress in US-China trade negotiations over the weekend helped push up base metals prices on the London Metal Exchange in early morning trading on Monday April 8.

Following a lackluster start to the trading week, the three-month base metals prices on the London Metal Exchange were mostly stronger on the morning of Tuesday August 7 amid bouts of bargain hunting, with the complex up by an average of 0.3%.

Base metals prices on the London Metal Exchange are for the most part stronger this morning, Monday January 22, with the complex up by an average of 0.2%.

Three-month base metals prices on the London Metal Exchange were for the most part weaker this morning, Monday January 14, following the release of weak Chinese trade data.

Three-month base metals prices on the London Metal Exchange were for the most part firmer on the morning of Wednesday July 25, with the complex up by an average of 0.4%. Tin (-0.2%) was the only metal showing a loss. Lead prices (+1%) led the advance, while copper prices rose by 0.4% to $6,290 per tonne.

Manganese ore prices stayed firm in last week’s assessment on positive sentiment for the steel sector, while silico-manganese prices fob India jumped higher as a result of the higher ore quotations.

The London Metal Exchange three-month base metals prices are generally subdued this morning, averaging up 0.2% while trading volume is considerably lower at 5,790 lots as of 06:23am London time on Tuesday April 9.

Ferrous scrap prices in the major global markets remained firm during the working week from Monday April 30 to Friday May 4, with single exception of the United States.

Steel billet prices in Turkey bucked the general global trend during the working week from Monday October 9 to Friday October 13, rising slightly with a rebound in scrap prices.

Three-month base metals prices on the London Metal Exchange were up across the board by an average of 0.2% this morning, Monday January 7, with copper recently quoted at $5,937 per tonne – this after average gains of 1.5% last Friday.
