Proposal to launch two antimony metal cif Rotterdam/Antwerp price assessments

Fastmarkets proposes to launch price assessments for antimony metal trioxide grade, cif Rotterdam/Antwerp, $ per tonne, and antimony metal MMTA standard grade II, cif Rotterdam/Antwerp, $ per tonne.

These would be in addition to the existing price assessments for MB-SB-0001 antimony max 100 ppm Bi, in-whs Rotterdam, and MB-SB-0002 antimony MMTA standard grade II, in-whs Rotterdam.

The two existing assessments would not be affected by the proposed additions.

The proposal follows the emergence of a widening gap between in-warehouse and CIF Rotterdam prices, which emerged after a prolonged period of weak demand and ample supply in the global antimony metal market. Sellers, particularly new smelters in Southeast Asia, have been willing to offer shipment material at significantly lower prices than prompt material held in European warehouses in order to secure business.

The addition of these price assessments would provide greater antimony market transparency for market participants active on a cif basis.

The proposed specifications are as follows:

Antimony metal trioxide grade, cif Rotterdam/Antwerp, $ per tonne
Quantity: Min 25 tonnes (+/-2%)
Quality: Ingot. Sb 99.65% min, Bi 100ppm max, Se 50ppm max, Cu 200ppm max, Fe 200ppm max, Pb 0.2% max
Location: cif Rotterdam/Antwerp
Timing: within 90 days
Unit: USD per tonne

Antimony metal MMTA standard grade II, cif Rotterdam/Antwerp, $ per tonne

These prices would form part of the Fastmarkets minor metals package.
