We are pleased to announce that International Paper CEO Andy Silvernail has been named the 2025 Fastmarkets Forest Products North American CEO of the year. Silvernail was honored during the annual Forest Products North America and International Containerboard Conference 2025.
Silvernail was selected as the winner by a group of investment analysts and portfolio managers covering the North American – and global – pulp, paper, and forest products industry.
One told Fastmarkets that Silvernail’s broad-based plan to restructure IP, one of the largest containerboard producer and boxmaker companies in the world, “has brought energy to the company and enthusiasm to the investor base.” Another called Silvernail the “obvious pick (for the award), especially with his boldness of vision.”
Silvernail, who started as the CEO 15 months ago in May 2024 in place of Mark Sutton, was recognized for developing a structured and dynamic plan that is now fast in motion for growing IP revenue and profit margin. Silvernail’s goal in three years is for IP to generate a 20% margin in industrial packaging containerboard and corrugated boxes in the US and Europe with adjusted EBITDA of $5.5 billion to $6.0 billion.
