Stuart Evans
Chief economist
Stuart Evans is the chief economist at Fastmarkets, bringing over 14 years of expertise in strategy, sustainability and carbon markets. He leads Fastmarkets Carbon, developing sustainability and economics products for major commodity markets. Stuart collaborates with investors, corporates and governments to navigate the net-zero transition, leveraging his deep experience in modeling, analytics, corporate strategy and business development. Before joining Fastmarkets, Stuart served as an Associate Partner at McKinsey & Company, where he led global carbon market analytics. He also held the role of Advisor to Australia's Minister for Climate Change, contributing extensively to domestic and international climate policy. A recognized thought leader, Stuart frequently speaks on carbon markets and international climate policy at institutions such as Chatham House and the Atlantic Council, as well as at global events for international organizations and governments. Stuart is currently a Visiting Fellow at the London School of Economics’ Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment. He holds a Master in Public Affairs from Princeton University, an Economics (Hons) degree from the Australian National University, and dual degrees in Economics and Business from the University of Newcastle.
