Open consultation on methodology for Latin America Packaging Paper and Board

Fastmarkets RISI is inviting feedback from the industry on the pricing methodologies for Latin America Packaging Paper and Board, as part of its announced annual methodology review process.

This consultation, which is open until December 27, 2023, seeks to ensure that our methodologies continue to reflect the physical market under indexation, in compliance with the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) principles for Price Reporting Agencies (PRAs). This includes all elements of our pricing process, our price specifications and publication frequency.

You can find the current methodology for Latin America – Packaging Paper and Board here.

The following clarifications will be added to the methodology this year:

  • Detailing that Brazilian kraftliner prices consider products made only with 100% virgin fiber.
  • Detailing that Brazilian kraftliner prices consider regular reels of width at or above 1.6m.
  • Detailing that Brazilian kraftliner prices do not reflect new kraftliner made with eucalyptus fiber with a basis weight lower than 120g/m².
  • Detailing that Brazilian white-top liner prices consider only products made with 100% virgin fiber.
  • Detailing that Brazilian fluting prices refer to prime-quality products with size press.
