Three-month base metals prices on the London Metal Exchange were weaker on the morning of Thursday December 6, with the complex down by an average of 0.9%. Continued weakness in equities, bond yields and increased trade tensions between the United States and China seem to be weighing on sentiment.

An escalation in the United States’ trade war with China, with another $200 billion of Chinese goods now potentially facing tariffs, has rattled base metals prices during early trading on Wednesday July 11.

The three-month lead price on the London Metal Exchange was slightly firmer this morning, Friday November 23, while the rest of the complex was down by an average of 0.6%. Zinc led the decline with a 1.2% fall, while copper was off by 0.8% at $6,217 per tonne.

Despite a firmer dollar, the three-month base metals prices on the London Metal Exchange are up across the board by an average of 0.8% this morning, Wednesday November 28. Nickel and tin are the outperformers with gains of 1.4% and 1.1% respectively.

The three-month tin price on the London Metal Exchange stood out as the strongest performer among its peers with a gain of 1.2% this morning, Monday November 26. Three-month copper ($6,183 per tonne) and aluminium were up by 0.2%, while the rest were down by 0.3%.

Three-month base metals prices on the London Metal Exchange were up across the board by an average of 0.5% on the morning of Monday July 23. Gains were ranged between 0.1% for aluminium and 1.2% for zinc, with copper up by 0.3% at $6,172 per tonne.

Global ferrous scrap prices were mostly going higher during the working week ended Friday May 11 with prices beginning to climb out of the price trough.
