Markets were mixed this morning, Tuesday June 2, with a slight upside bias overall; equities and metals were not showing any particular direction, with regional differences being seen too.

China’s crackdown on imports of lead waste products has sent ripples through the smelting industry there, with some companies pondering capacity cuts amid one of the tightest concentrate markets in years.

The metals remain on a back footing this morning, Monday July 10, with the base metals complex on the London Metal Exchange down an average of 0.4% as of 07:18 BST.

Most base metals prices on the Shanghai Futures Exchange were little changed to weaker during Asian morning trading on Monday October 15, with a resurgent dollar putting downward pressure on the complex. Lead was the lone metal to record any price gains.
