Base metals prices on the Shanghai Futures Exchange were down across the board at the close of morning trading on Monday March 30, with aluminium leading the complex lower with a fall of 2.1%.

While generally weak global economic data continues to weigh on sentiment and is keeping base metals prices under pressure, the rise in tensions between the United States and Iran has lifted the gold price this morning, Tuesday June 18.

Most base metals prices on the Shanghai Futures Exchange fell during Asian trading hours on Monday November 5, as buoyant hopes last week over a possible resolution to the ongoing trade war between the United States and China were punctured by White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow stating a deal was not imminent.

The three-month base metals prices on the London Metal Exchange were mainly firmer this morning, Friday December 21, the exception being nickel which was down by 0.5%.

Base metals are consolidating recent gains with prices off by 0.4% on average this morning, Friday July 28. Tin leads the decline with a 0.7% price fall to $20,565 per tonne, followed by copper prices that are off 0.6% at $6,284 per tonne and nickel prices that are down 0.5%, while the rest are off around 0.2%.
