Base metals prices on the Shanghai Futures Exchange were mixed during Asian morning trading on Monday May 28, with zinc, nickel and tin registering gains, while aluminium prices were flat and those of copper and lead fell.

Base metals traded on the Shanghai Futures Exchange were broadly down during the morning trading session on Friday October 25, with the complex pressured by disappointing manufacturing data released on Thursday and a recovery in the dollar index.

Copper, nickel and other energy metals will outperform in the next commodity up-cycle driven by electrical vehicles and renewable energy, and while zinc may underperform in comparison, prices could peak around middle of this year amid tight supply, Erik Sardain, managing partner and global strategist at consultancy Victorem Capital, said.
