Decision to amend specifications of European imported flat steel price assessments

Fastmarkets will amend the specifications for its CFR Europe flat steel import price assessments to better reflect the most typical sizes of spot market transactions.

Based on feedback from market participants, Fastmarkets will now amend the tonnage specifications to a minimum of 500 tonnes from 500-5,000 tonnes previously, recognizing that higher tonnages are often transacted in the physical market.

Fastmarkets also clarifies that these assessments do not include EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) costs.

No other changes have been made to the original proposal.

The original consultation can be found here.

The change will be effective Wednesday December 31.
