Dr Neil J. Bristow has been actively involved in the iron ore industry for over 35 years. He spent over 21 years in a range of positions with BHP and left to established his own consultancy putting his deep experience and insights of steelmaking raw materials to good use. With extensive experience in understanding and forecasting iron ore market dynamics, prices, strategy development – both industry wide and marketing, changes in industry structure, and future trends in seaborne iron ore markets, he has provided advice to numerous players in the global iron ore industry. Cobined with a strong technical background in iron ore utilisation, a deep understanding of sintering (including running numerous plant trials), pelletising (including development of potential WA IO pellets), blast furnace burden evaluation, together with fundamental and applied iron ore research, this has enabled him to analyse value-in-use trends in iron ore markets, supporting short and long term iron ore marketing, market development and medium to long term strategy. Internationally recognised as a respected expert in iron ore, steel and other steelmaking raw materials analysis, he has spoken at numerous international meetings and published market and technical papers on iron ore. His key expertise in steel, iron ore, metallurgical coal, and manganese ore and ferroalloy markets, coupled with long term analysis on future directions in emerging markets, saw him as an advisor on alternative ironmaking technologies and the challenges facing the global steel industry. Dr Bristow was a former Australian representative on ISO TC Standards Committees on physical testing of iron ore and DRI. Dr Bristow is currently Managing Director of H&W Worldwide Consulting providing a wide range of market research and consulting services to the global iron ore and steel raw materials industries.

Ebrahim joined Anglo American in 2013, where he was based in South Africa, managing product development. In 2017, Ebrahim moved to Singapore, where he held managerial positions in technical marketing and sales. In June 2022 he was appointed as the Head of Sales and Physical Trading for Anglo American Iron Ore. Prior to joining Anglo American, he worked for ArcelorMittal for nearly 10 years, in various technical and managerial roles within iron making. Outside of work, Ebrahim serves as a Non-Executive Director of the South African Chamber of Commerce Singapore, a non-profit entity with the objective of promoting trade and business relations between South Africa and Singapore. Ebrahim has a BSc (Engineering) Metallurgical and Materials Science and a Master of Business Administration from the University of the Witwatersrand. He is married to Aneesa, and they have four children.

Antoine de Corbière is Senior Vice President Sales Iron Ore at Rio Tinto, and is a member of the Iron Ore Leadership Team. In his role, Antoine has accountability for Sales and Account Management, Book Management and Trading activities and S&OP execution for Rio Tinto’s iron ore products. Antoine has been with Rio Tinto since 2003. In his 20 years with Rio Tinto, Antoine has developed a deep knowledge of the commodity business. He has experience working in several international management roles ranging from business development, sales and marketing, trading and audit, based in France, Canada and Singapore. Most recently, prior to joining the Iron Ore team, Antoine was the General Manager, Sales and Marketing for Bauxite and Alumina. In his 15 years of experience in the aluminium industry, he has also developed a thorough understanding of the Chinese market where he worked closely with customers and various stakeholders. Antoine holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and an MBA from the EDHEC Business School.

Karen McBeth has more than 30 years of experience analyzing metals markets. As head of metals global engagement and intelligence for S&P Global Commodity Insights, she works in a cross-commodity group that leverages feedback from customers to drive content decisions for the metals group and enable connections between commodity markets. She joined Metals Week in 1990 as Washington Editor and spent six years covering government issues affecting all metals. In the early 1990s, she developed the Platts spot price assessments for magnesium and titanium. As Aluminum Editor and North American Managing Editor from 1994-1999, she handled price assessing across the US primary and secondary aluminum spectrum and started new assessments for aluminum scrap, billet, additional secondary aluminum alloys and the six-months forward P1020 premium. She was promoted to Editorial Director in 1999, managing an international group of editors. In 2006, she spearheaded Platts’ move into steel and ferrous markets, building out a team that launched the first daily iron ore price assessments in 2008, followed by daily coking coal prices in 2010, daily alumina in 2010 and daily molybdenum oxide in 2011. She transitioned to an engagement-focused role within the Metals Group in 2011 after Platts’ acquisition of Steel Business Briefing and assumed her current position in 2022. Prior to joining Platts, McBeth was an editor for a magazine covering the grocery and consumer products industries. McBeth has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing Management from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Timo started his career as a research scientist with Akzo Nobel, a Dutch chemicals company, and worked for them in the Netherlands and in the United States. He then joined management consultants McKinsey & Co, where he worked for nearly 10 years, both in the Netherlands and in Southern Africa, specialising in basic materials. In 2004 he joined TechnoServe as Country Director for South Africa. TechnoServe is a not-for-profit development agency focused on providing ‘business solutions to rural poverty’ by helping to set up and/or turn around businesses in poor rural areas in South Africa. After 3 years at TechnoServe, Timo then joined Kumba Iron Ore as Head of Commercial, in 2007. He is now Head of Marketing and Sales Iron Ore, with responsibility for Kumba Iron Ore and Minas Rio. Timo holds degrees in Applied Physics (M.Sc. – Technical University of Delft) and Materials Science & Engineering (Ph.D. – MIT). He is married to Mieneke and they have 3 children who keep them busy in their free time.
