The base metals have opened up on a strong footing this morning, Tuesday January 10, boosted by stronger than expected PPI data out of China – it was up 5.5%, compared with 3.3% in November, although CPI slipped to 2.1% from 2.3%.

Base metals prices on the London Metal Exchange are down across the board by an average of 0.6% this morning, Wednesday September 13. Three-month nickel prices lead the decline with a 1.6% drop to $11,730 per tonne, while tin prices are little changed and the rest are down by between 0.4% for copper ($6,643 per tonne) and 0.8% for lead ($2,291 per tonne).

METALS MORNING VIEW 20/10: Underlying sentiment seems to remain bullish
Base metals prices on the London Metal Exchange are mostly higher with gains averaging 1.1% this morning, Friday October 20. The exception is tin where prices are off by 0.3%. Nickel prices once again lead the gains with a 2.5% increase to $12,065 per tonne, with lead prices up by 1.6% and copper prices up by 1.3% to $7,060 per tonne. Zinc and aluminium prices are up by 0.9% and 0.6%, respectively.
