Global scrap markets were looking for a clear direction, with international prices inching upward, while demand was moderate during the working week from Monday June 19 to Friday June 23.

A quiet but positive start to trading on the London Metal Exchange this morning, Thursday June 22, with base metals prices up across the board with average gains of 0.2%.

The canned food industry could suffer if the Section 232 investigation into steel results in tariffs being placed on imports of tinplate products, industry experts warned, as U.S. producers lack the ability to meet market demands.

It has been a quiet start on the London Metal Exchange this morning, Wednesday June 21, as base metals prices remain little changed with price movements ranged between down 0.3% for tin and up 0.2% for zinc – copper prices are down 0.2% at $5,657 per tonne. Volume has been light with 4,009 lots traded as of 06:22 BST.

Base metals prices on the London Metal Exchange are mixed this morning, Tuesday June 20, with copper and zinc prices both down 0.4% with three-month copper prices at $5,701 per tonne, while the rest of the metals are up between 0.1% and 0.3%.

European ferro-silicon prices were seen retreating last week amid summer slowdown concerns, while Chinese prices inched up as sentiment continues to be positive.
